The Bay area production duo of James Laurence and Dylan Reznick, Friendzone are responsible for some of the most invigorating beats of recent times, with the last year seeing a steady stream of their own productions, mixtapes and a series of collabs with rappers Main AttrakionzLike Clams Casino they’ve received a lot of attention around the term ‘cloud rap’ - which refers to the textural and airy qualities of a style that uses ambience to a lilting and soft-focus effect - with their tracks typically based around emotionally-weighty piano lines and draped in atmosphere.

Their mix for us shows the same care and attention to melody we’ve come to expect from their productions - evident in tracks such as E+E’s re-work of The-Dream's Rockin That Shit and the major-key Happy Hardcore of Ram - as well as showing they know their way around the more difficult strands of electronic music and hip-hop.
